Rowan Joffe Video Archive, HBO’s Wikileaks Movie Screenwriter. The HBO & BBC Wikileaks Movie team has tapped Rowan Joffe to write the script and screenplay and added a deep roster of executive producers to complement the Oscar-Winning Director Charles Ferguson. Joffe has an impressive background, previously directing “Brighton Rock (2010)” and writing for George Clooney independent film “The American” as well as “28 Weeks Later.” The HBO & BBC film, as reported by Variety, is “… the story of the database run by former hacker and internet activist Julian Assange and his operatives, whose mission is to collect and disseminate via the Internet private, secret and classified information from anonymous sources.”

Wikileaks Movie Trailer: After the dust of history settles how will Wikileaks, Julian Assange and Bradley Manning be judged? And for die-hard movie fans how will history judge the Wikileaks Movie Trailer (or trailers)? These are profound questions that the team at Wikileaks-Movie.com ponders. But what makes for a great trailer, anyhow? And given the range of impacts and perspectives which Wikileaks has created, what will make a Wikileaks Movie trailer great? Will there be scenes from Quantico? Will we be drawn into Bradley Manning’s mind as he hits “save” on the trove of Cablegate documents stored on a Lady Gaga CD? Will there be a semi-steamy (hopefully not too steamy) look into the sexual trials and missteps of Julian Assange? How about heated, fist-pounding debates in India over wikileaks cables and political bribes and corruption? Or heart-wrenching footage from the infamous Collateral Murder leak? Perhaps a quick flight through the Wikileaks lair or a glimpse of Assange dancing or dressed like a grandmother to avoid detection? Who knows, perhaps the trailer will start with someone reading through their copy of the Julian Assange Biography? An unforgettably audacious trailer captivates an audience, creating a force field that draws in the minds, hearts and wallets of movie goers and Wikileaks Movie DVD buyers. The Wikileaks movie studios and Julian Assange documentary makers will succeed if they can somehow distill the wide range of Wikileaks topics and perspectives into a concise, evocative trailer that creates a dramatic “pull” and succeeds as a cornerstone of successfull movie advertising. The Wikileaks Movie Trailer will be a challenge to craft, just as the Wikileaks Movie will be for the many studios who are attempting to grapple with this story. But for the studio who nails the trailer…truly nails it…the movie going crowds and Wikileaks faithful will be very kind.

Warren Buffett, Anonymous and Wikileaks Imitators. A risky feast for Wikileaks Movie Makers

From Warren Buffett and Anonymous to the numerous Wikileaks imitators that are springing up, the Wikileaks Movie teams at DreamWorks and other studios must have a full plate of stimulating ideas. It would be great to be a fly-on-the-wall-note-taker in the brainstorming and storyboarding sessions for the Wikileaks Movie. There is so much to continually review and cover in this unfolding real life action drama called Wikileaks. And there are certain options definitely more risky than others when it comes to what to portray and not to portray in the Wikileaks Movie. We’ve got a recent Cablegate releases about Warren Buffett’s Chinese electric car maker BYD. Then, as you know, Anonymous is quickly becoming just as potent and threatening as Wikileaks to big business and government. Finally, on a daily basis, whether it’s from Egypt or Canada, there are numerous Wikileaks Imitators such as OpenLeaks.org and QuebecLeaks.org that continue to crop up, inspired by a vision of information transparency and freedom. From big brands to important intellectual and policy issues there is a feast of material for the Wikileaks Movie projects underway. It will be very interesting to see what the Wikileaks script writers and producers include in the Julian Assange film. And more importantly, how will the studios strike a balance between dramatic action and authentic coverage of the really important issues in the eventual Wikileaks Movie (s)?
