This marks a new turn in the Wikileaks story which has the potential to alter the dynamic in Pakistan and surrounding regions. Recently released Wikileaks cables by the Dawn Newspaper, which took place just after the secret US mission killing Osama Bin Laden, reveal a new level of detail regarding the US/Pakistan diplomatic and military relationship. These cables highlight a range of information relating to the presence of US military forces on the ground in Pakistan, the country’s requisition and need for unmanned Drone air power, the US role in humanitarian aid, and the funding of militants operating in Pakistan by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Cuban Confidential: Cables Show Officials Fattening their Offshore Accounts via Private Contracts

On one end we have Rudolf Elmer handing over key documents which supposedly will illuminate the tax evasion artistry of the global elite. Offshore bank accounting practices play a key role. On the other end, we can see from cables leaked by the Assange team how Cuban officials cushion their financial prosperity through private contracting practices, allowing them to receive “tips” from the private companies they dole out contracts to, thereby fattening their offshore accounts.
