Jason Leopold, Investigative Journalist and editor-at-large for The Public Record, discusses “The Gitmo Files” Wikileaks release and their impacts in a recent interview with RT America. WikiLeaks released hundreds of Guantanamo Files revealing details about the imprisonment if innocent children or elder people while releasing other detainees that had been designated “high risk.” Jason Leopold says the Bush administration operated outside the law. Guantanamo was often referred to as a “Battle Lab” with a wide range of “experiments,” he noted. Today Congress remains silent about human right violations that occurred at Guantanamo while preaching to other countries about upholding human rights.

Courage-is-Contagious-bradley_manningfmj

For Wikileaks movie and film junkies, updates from Alex Gibney or other producers have been few and far between. But just as the Gitmo file dump raises eyebrows and sparks massive debate with over 700 revealing documents, we have learned this week from Alex Gibney and 24 Frames that his Universal Pictures documentary is “moving” and will likely focus on the “less heralded” players in the Wikileaks movie and documentary film.

Guantanamo Files & Wikileaks: Explosive Material for Forthcoming DVD, Movie and Film Projects

(Source: "Flag" by NewsHour)

The recent Wikileaks release of over 700 Guantanamo Files, purported to be obtained via CD or DVD by Wikileaks, has further brought to light the impact of Bradley Manning, Julian Assange and the organization he founded to create “total transparency.” The last 48 hours has witnessed a flurry of press coverage analyzing this story from all angles and US Government statements condemning this latest release. At Wikileaks-Movie.com we are soaking it in, imagining how this latest turn of events will be interpreted by the DreamWorks Studios of the world incorporated into the Wikileaks movie, film and documentary projects. Moreover how will creative artists like Courage is Contagious and the Exiled Surfer interpret all of this visually? Supposedly there is a DVD on Wikileaks to be released in early May. This comes right after James Spione’s film on “Collateral Murder” was featured at Tribeca. It’s too late for these DVD and film projects to weave in the GITMO files, but you can bet that the Guantanamo Files will be an interesting subject of focus in future productions.
