Charles Ferguson — HBO Director Profile : Wikileaks-Movie.com Documentary Filmmaker Series

Charles Ferguson, Wikileaks HBO Movie Producer

Charles Ferguson, who is at the helm of the HBO Wikileaks Movie project, is the next Director to be highlighted at Wikileaks-Movie.com. We have highlighted Alex Gibney, who is working with Universal on a Wikileaks Documentary film. Although information is scarce at this point, Gibney has indicated to 24 Frames that his film, produced in collaboration with former Universal co-Chairman Mark Shmuger, will highlight the role(s) of “less heralded” persons such as Bradley Manning and Birgitta Jonsdottir. But for this post we’ll focus on Ferguson, who will no-doubt be working just as hard to bring the Wikileaks story to light for HBO audiences. As evidenced by his track-record in film, technology and other arenas he seems to care a great deal about making sense of complexity for audiences and consumers without “dumbing down” the topic matter. And Charles Ferguson will no doubt bring the same care and attention to the Wikileaks Movie HBO project

Charles Ferguson will direct the HBO Wikileaks movie, film and biopic. Ferguson has two widely respected documentary films under his belt, the Academy Award-Winning Inside Job (2010) and No End In Sight: The American Occupation of Iraq (2007). This news from Variety comes amidst sensational news and impacts related to the Wikileaks Gitmo Files dump which has some commentators such as Bill Reilly calling for treason charges against Assange and Wikileaks. Additionally, Alex Gibney “leaked” to 24 Frames the status of his documentary film and movie which will focus on important lesser knowns such as Bradley Manning.

Wikileaks Movie Producer Alex Gibney Speaking to Raise Funds for Amherst Non-Profit

Alex Gibney by rasdourian

Wikileaks Movie producer Alex Gibney will “share outtakes” on his work in Amherst, Massachusetts on March 11 at an annual benefit for the Pleasant Street Theater and the Amherst Cinema, both of which are non-profit organizations. Gibney, an acclaimed documentarian, has won award after award for his work on projects such as “Magic Bus” (Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters), “Client 9″ (NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer), “Casino Jack and the United States of Money” (Jack Abramoff) and “Enron: the Smartest Guys in the Room.” And now, with backing from Universal Pictures, Alex Gibney is tackling the Julian Assange story and producing a Wikileaks movie. Let us hope that after Gibney’s talk, someone will “leak” an audio file or video of his remarks as it certainly takes someone almost as interesting as his subject matter to embark on a film project such as the Wikileaks movie. And as far as Gibney’s philanthropic effort for local non-profits that is something the team at wikileaks-movie.com applauds.
