Wikileaks-Movie.com is pleased to introduce you to filmmaker James Spione, winner of a 2011 Tribeca Film Festival award for his documentary short Incident in New Baghdad. This film, profiled recently on this site, offers a fundamentally important view into Ethan McCord’s experience in the Iraq War and, more specifically, the Collateral Murder incident which Ethan witnessed first-hand and a video of which WikiLeaks later released.
Wikileaks-Movie.com is pleased to introduce Clark Stoeckley, driver of the world’s first Wikileaks Truck called the “WikiLeaks Top Secret Mobile Information Collection Unit” and member of the Anonymous Theater Art Group. As many have remarked, when it comes to the Wikileaks story, “You just can’t make this s__t up!” The issues are serious but there is plenty of room and an important role for levity, art and theatrics.

UPDATE! Fresh 9/11 trial charges at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others. For members of the Wikileaks-Movie.com community who have followed our recent stories on Gitmo closely this will certainly be of interest. Just one day after Memorial Day was observed in the United States the US Government is bringing fresh charges against the alleged conspirators who are thought to have played a pivotal role in the 9/11 attack by Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda (also spelled as al-Qaida) team. This news follows on the heels of multiple Wikileaks-Movie.com posts and interviews related to Gitmo, including soldiers and officers who served at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo). These highlight a range of perspectives and viewpoints.
Today’s Wikileaks-Movie.com review, as part of our Director Profile Series, focuses on the work of James Spione as well as his recent documentary film Incident in New Baghdad. The winner of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival “Best Documentary Short Award,” this film highlights the on-the-ground experiences of U.S. Army Specialist Ethan McCord who witnessed first hand the incident later to be branded as the “Collateral Murder” incident by Wikileaks and Julian Assange.

Granger, a U.S. Army Medical Deptartment Officer and author of the book Saving Grace at Guantanamo Bay, A Memoir of a Citizen Warrior (2010). Major Granger served as the ranking US Army Medical Department Officer with the Joint Detainee Operations Group (JDOG) at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) just months after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and wrote about his first-hand experience observing the daily Gitmo medical support activities, vis-a-vis the detainees, who in his words “wanted to kill him.” Major Granger kept a personal journal of his experiences, which takes you through what life is like for a Reservist, and we thank the Major for taking the time to contribute his unique insights and viewpoints with Wikileaks-Movie.com in our new Gitmo Interview Series.
Marc Shmuger is the former co-chairman of Universal Pictures and a key Wikileaks Documentary Filmmaker and co-producer working with director Alex Gibney. The Wikileaks movie and film projects, the really successful, educational and entertaining ones, must be led and crafted by first rate producers and directors. With this in mind, the Wikileaks film will be the first project of Shmuger’s new Universal-based production company, Global Produce, which will be headquartered in Santa Monica and will have a first-look deal with Universal.
Marc Shmuger and Oscar-winner documentary director Alex Gibney are well underway with this project, interviewing key players in the Wikileaks story including Birgitta Jonsdottir and others. Recently, Marc Shmuger described this Wikileaks collaboration and project as his “Labor of Love” which is good news for movie fans and people interested in bringing the Wikileaks and Julian Assange story to life on film in as authentic and entertaining fashion as possible.
