The James Spione film “Incident in New Baghdad” has been shortlisted by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for a potential Oscar. Spione, who took part in an exclusive written interview at WikiLeaks-Movie.com, is devoted filmmaker who tackles important stories ranging from Ethan McCord’s experience of the “Collateral Murder” incident later released by the organization WikiLeaks. Crowdsourcing WikiLeaks: The Movie? With WikiLeaks moving to "crowdsource" the grass roots mining of cablegate documents (See #WLfind) the team at WikiLeaks-Movie.com is wondering whether or not crowdsourcing methods will be used to craft or fund a WikiLeaks movie, film or documentary? As anyone who tracks the WikiLeaks phenomenon knows there are many movies and films on the topic of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks in development. Leading players in the movie business such as Alex Gibney, Marc Shmuger, Rowan Joffe, Charles Ferguson, Mark Boal & Megan Ellison are all involved in the topic in some way or another. With such a crowded field some might wonder if there is room for another. However, crowdsourcing the development or funding of a WikiLeaks movie or film could open up a new avenue on this topic, decentralize the movie-making process, democratize the gathering of perspectives and allow new grassroots dimensions and viewpoints to emerge. Perhaps new "crowdsourced" fundraising channels will open up for grassroots organizations such as WikiLeaks or others involved in the "transparency movement.

The WikiLeaks film & movie by Director and filmmaker Alex Gibney is coming closer to fruition. Gibney, the founder of Jigsaw Productions, has created a WikiLeaks movie and film page for their “Untitled WikiLeaks Project” which is in production. As you may recall, Gibney “The Dishevelled Columbo” has been on a world-wide quest to better understand and document the WikiLeaks and Julian Assange story. WikiLeaks-Movie.com has received first-hand updates on Gibney’s interviews, including one by Icelandic leader Birgitta Jónsdóttir, Icelandic Parliament Member.

The 2011 thriller film The Whistleblower starring Rachell Weisz opens in theaters August 5, 2011. Directed by filmmaker Larysa Kondracki and written by Kondracki in collaboration with Eilis Kirwan, the film highlights the true story of Kathryn Bolkovac. In The Whistleblower, a police officer (Rachell Weisz) risks her safety and employment to to reveal systemic, large-scale, human trafficking and sex slave scandal in post war Bosnia. This scandal involves U.S. military contractors in addition to UN employees. As the world debates the WikiLeaks affair, Bradley Manning and the 40th anniversary of Daniel Ellsberg’s Pentagon Papers case, movies such as The Whistleblower come at a good time to foster critical thought. New US Ambassador to Mexico – Diplomat Earl Anthony Wayne Replaces Carlos Pascual After WikiLeaks Disclosures

Earl Anthony Wayne will serve as the new Ambassador to Mexico, taking the post vacated since the resignation of Carlos Pascual. Pascual resigned earlier this year after WikiLeaks cables disclosed his critique of Mexican authorities and President Felipe Calderón. Earl Anthony Wayne most recently served as deputy ambassador to Afghanistan. Wayne, a California native, earned a Political Science degree in Political Science from Berkeley as well as Master’s degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from Stanford, Princeton and Harvard.

#OpPayPal, a massive and legal PayPal boycott by supporters of WikiLeaks, Anonymous and LulzSec, has been initiated today. PayPal, the financial services company which has blocked transactions to WikiLeaks is today facing a substantial and growing protest called #OpPayPal with supporters of WikiLeaks, Anonymous and LulzSec being asked to close their PayPal accounts.

A Situation of Parenti Control? Has WikiLeaks Inspired Artist @ExiledSurfer Been Censored, Blocked on US Government Networks?

@exiledsurfer censored? ArtificialEyes.tv, the website operated by artist and “Wikivisionary” Michael Parenti, appears to have been blocked and censored on at least one U.S. government computer network. While WikiLeaks-Movie.com is unable to verify this directly, we have learned from Parenti that his site has been “blocked in U.S. government networks” including the United States Air Force, an action which he states has been “confirmed by many sources.”

WikiLeaks Movie and documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney was recently interviewed by Karl Quinn of The Sydney Morning Herald. Gibney, who has two films showing at the Melbourne International Film Festival, is on a fascinating trek to understand and convey the “globe girdling” WikiLeaks story. This trek has taken Gibney to Iceland for interviews with Birgitta Jonsdottir, to Magnetic Island, Oklahoma USA and many other locales. Alex Gibney clearly recognizes the hilarity and challenge of his effort as it takes place simultaneously to other WikiLeaks movie and film projects. Branding himself ”a more dishevelled Columbo, shuffling along trying to understand what’s going on,” it is this dogged, detective-like approach to film making that may ensure his WikiLeaks documentary film project stands out in the eyes of history.

Censorship is not just about forbidding discussion of certain facts or limiting the freedom of thought. Our very patterns of thought, emotions, and beliefs can be molded in ways beyond our control, both directly and indirectly. Censorship is indirectly imposed through instilling feelings of guilt and fear through the media and institutions of society. For these reasons, censorship is a violation of human rights. Political discourse and artwork have been subjected to censorship in the same ways for thousands of years. There are many examples of censorship imposed on artworks of all kinds.
