When it Leaks it Pours…Wikileaks Cables Tangle Syria and U.S. Relations

A Wikileaks cablegate release has revealed secret U.S. financing of Syria opposition groups. These Wikileaks cables have surfaced diplomatic communications describing the financing of Barada TV which is tied to the Movement for Justice and Development. This organization is comprised of Syrian exiles based in the United Kingdom who are critical of the Syrian government led by President Bashar Al-Assad. As protests in Syria escalate, with numerous deaths now reported, Wikileaks cables add fuel to the fire and add to U.S. concerns about a “Wikileaks Backlash” or reprisals by Assad backers against the opposition. Things are heating up. As @zachlowrie Twittered regarding the events in Syria, “this is like a movie!”

Julian Assange Extradition ‘Tizzy’, David Leigh Weighs In

While the Julian Assange Extradition ruling is another milestone for the Wikileaks Movie or documentary, it is David Leigh, co-author of a recent Wikileaks book, who caught our attention today in his article “It’s Julian Assange’s own ‘tizzy’ that bamboozles.” Julian Assange’s personal affairs, sex trial and extradition hearings have taken up tremendous resources from the core activist focus of Wikileaks the organization. This has some commentators and experts discussing ‘Peak Wikileaks’ and the time when this organization will cease to be a hard-core journalistic game changer due in part to all of these personal distractions. Finally, Assange’s own commentary on his case has been varied, at different times blaming different sources for his legal troubles, which brings Assange’s own strategy and personality more into play. David Leigh sheds initial light on the personal situation of Assange and then attempts to bring us back to more serious matters of focus such as the impact of Wikileaks on the current situation in the Middle East and the treatment of Bradley Manning. Julian Assange Sex Trial and Extradition Hearing Set for Monday

The Julian Assange sex trial will enter into a new phase Monday in a London court hearing. In question is whether Assange will be extradited to Sweden to face questioning on sexual misconduct and rape allegations by two Swedish Women. In recent days, a Swedish journalist with deep knowledge of Julian Assange sex trial and contact with at least one of the accusers has raised questions regarding the accuracy of the claims made by one of the women. Additionally, a lengthy police report on the Julian Assange sex trial has been leaked online. The Julian Assange sex trial is a key thread in the Julian Assange story, and is an important dimension in the various Julian Assange books and Wikileaks movie (s) under production. How will this aspect of the sex trials and tribulations of Julian Assange be treated in the Wikileaks movie?

Wikileaks “Cablegate” Continues — US Supplies Russia with Key Data on Britain’s Trident Missile Stockpile

Cablegate continues today with revelations that the US may be supplying Russia with key data on Britain’s Trident missile stockpile. Today Wikileaks released a new batch of diplomatic cables, a large milestone for Cablegate, and further potential nuggets to support the Wikileaks movie. Of particular interest in this trove of Wikileaks cables is information regarding US and Russian negotitons as part of the START arms control treaty. US President Barak Obama has agreed to provide information to Russia on every Trident missile supplied to Britain by the US. From the Russian oil “Godfather” to Wikileaks-inspired Hacktivists there will be plenty of interesting action. And now we have Trident Missiles as a potential ingredient in one of many Wikileaks movies underway.
