Wikileaks, Gandhi and the India Anti-Corruption Movement

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, speaking recently about Gandhi and India, has stated that the anti-corruption movement in this country has been inspired by the Wikileaks release of Cablegate materials by the Hindu. Revolution in Tunisia, Egypt and the Middle East has definitely been influenced by the release of U.S. diplomatic cables. And now, with the recent collaboration with Wikileaks and the Hindu, Wikileaks is sparking open debate and health civil society conflict around anti-corruption efforts in India. The impact of Wikileaks, Cablegate and Julian Assange is further cemented by these statements. What will be interesting to observe is how the multitude of Wikileaks Movie, Film and Documentary projects will cover these tangible “impacts” of Wikileaks and Julian Assange.

Assange Asserts Cablegate Role in Arab Uprisings, Turkish and Indian News Partners With Wikileaks

Wikileaks Movie focal point Julian Assange asserted the role of Cablegate in recent Arab Uprisings just as Wikileaks has developed partnerships with Turkish and Indian Papers. Speaking to the Cambridge Union Society, Assange shared his perspective with students that the “Cablegate” release of US Diplomatic cables contributed to the downfall of government regimes in Egypt and Tunisia. These spectacular uprisings, which quickly magnetized the hearts and minds of millions of Egyptian and Tunisian citizens, were, according to Julian Assange influenced and catalyzed by the Wikileaks Cables. Whether this can be proven “without a doubt” is uncertain, however what is certain is that the various Wikileaks Movie, film and DVD projects underway will only be improved by bringing the impact of Wikileaks on Arab uprisings in the Middle East to light for movie goers.
