Irish Independent News Releases "The Ireland Cables" with Wikileaks
The Irish Independent has released the Wikileaks Ireland Cables, 1,900 classified cables from the American Embassy in Ireland. As a continuation of Wikileaks’ approach to develop national partnerships with key News Agencies (e.g. Israel: Haaretz, India: The Hindu), today the Irish Independent has begun its own Wikileaks journey.
As the paper reports, “TODAY this newspaper carries the first installment of a flood of information obtained through the whistleblowing website WikiLeaks, founded by Julian Assange. It is not too much to call this exclusive series a major event in Irish journalism.

American officials count government ministers, senior civil servants and top diplomats among “confidential” sources, leaked US embassy cables reveal.
Their activities are disclosed in the Ireland Cables – a tranche of over 1,900 classified documents exclusively obtained by the Irish Independent from the whistleblowing organisation WikiLeaks.
