The 2011 thriller film The Whistleblower starring Rachel Weisz opens in theaters August 5, 2011. Directed by filmmaker Larysa Kondracki and written by Kondracki in collaboration with Eilis Kirwan, the film highlights the true story of Kathryn Bolkovac.

In The Whistleblower, a police officer (Rachel Weisz) risks her safety and employment to to reveal systemic, large-scale, human trafficking and sex slave scandal in post war Bosnia. This scandal involves U.S. military contractors in addition to UN employees.

She’s been passed over by various law-enforcement agencies in Georgia and feels despondent – until she’s offered a chance to be part of the peacekeeping force being hired by the U.N. in Bosnia.
