“Sources of Inspiration and Opportunities for Artistic Expression Abound!”
From the perspective of history, the Wikileaks phenomenon can be described as nothing less than politically earth shattering; in some respects the Ninety-Five Theses of our day. Although, the political ramifications of Wikileaks continue to unfold and remain to be seen, multimedia artistic expression inspired by these events has already commenced.
As has been true throughout recorded history, artists’ commentary on historical events comprises a vital component of our public discourse. Art brings historical events to a wider audience and as time progresses often becomes more recognizable than the primary sources on which it is based. When the political consequences of Wikileaks material have run their course, history will remember the films, documentaries and other creative products that were created during this period.
“As artists, we recognize the inspiration that allows us to express where we have been and where we may go as a society”
As historians, we search for interdisciplinary linkages within time periods to help explain events and describe commonalities among time period to learn from past experiences. As artists, we recognize the inspiration that allows us to express where we have been and where we may go as a society, who we are, what we think and feel and helps us ask questions for all to ponder. Art connects us to our fellow human beings regardless of historical era, culture or social divide and reminds us that although situations change the concepts that define the human experience are constant, ubiquitous and eternal as inspiration.
In the digital age, as the sharing of information has become virtually instantaneous, sources of inspiration and opportunities for artistic expression abound. Artists, film and documentary makers, actors, writers, comedians and musicians, will transform Wikileaks related story lines into societal commentaries that have historical effects in their own right. Imagine Publishing is proud to offer you the Wikileaks-Movie.com project which we hope will become your go-to resource for this unique merger of politics and art. We thank you for reading, welcome your input and appreciate your support.
